Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Her roles comprise All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of the United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised by her four siblings. In her early years she longed to be a court reporter. After graduating from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. In her teens the first time she appeared as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then Delaney has been in a variety of films television movies and dramas. As with her professional career however, her private life has not been happy or successful. There were two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. Her custody in 2005 was confiscated from her.
