She was a musician, performer, creator and challenged boundaries in the musical world. She was a an American-Mexican traditional singer who brought together the two genres with a unique approach. She also delivered excellent Tejano music to an affluent public. Like many times when an incredibly bright and friendly star is lost way too soon the tragic loss of her life shattered her growing profile. Many mourned all of the potential that was not fully realized. Her fans have been working harder to keep in mind what she's achieved. Selena's tragic death by shooting provoked a response from the Latino community that was similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a hugely loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her songs touched the hearts of both young and the old. Selena, who was hot and stunning stage performer, who was often referred to as Latina Madonna, was also the model on stage. She was active in antidrug efforts.
